We are the Ganaraska Chordsmen Chorus,
AKA "The Ganaraskals!"

Men of all ages from Port Hope, Cobourg, Northumberland County and beyond.
A Barbershop Harmony Society chorus singing from memory and without accompaniment (a cappella).
Meeting at St. John's Parish Hall, 33 Pine St N, Port Hope, ON L1A 3G5.
Most Tuesdays, 7PM-9:30PM, year-round.
We love to sing and entertain.
Led by an inspiring chorus director, we learn words and music with the aid of take-home sheet music and audio recordings. No previous music training is necessary, as long as you can carry a tune, in tune.

The Barbershop Harmony Society brings men together in harmony and fellowship to enrich lives through singing.
To be the premier membership organization for men who love to sing.

 Music Directors

Fred Mooij

Director - Fred Mooij

Getting Fred to write a bio is akin to pulling hen's teeth. Suffice to say that this self-described "arm-waver" is passionate about singing barbershop harmony and has done so for decades. He was a member of our predecessor Pine Ridge Chorus and sang tenor with Ontario District 1994 Novice Quartet Champions "Ganaraska Rascals".

John Dingle
Assistant Director - John Dingle

Although a newcomer to Barbershop music, John has an extensive musical background, having studied for many years at the Royal Conservatory and U of T's Faculty of Music.

John considers it a fine honour to be given the position of Assistant Director, especially when teamed up with Fred Mooji as Director, whose Barbershop experience spans decades. "We work well together and I am happy to be able to contribute those bits from my training in the classical world, which might make sense for this delightful kind of music".
